A Charentaise two-bedroom family home beautifully and lovingly restored with high quality furnishings. Spacious, light and airy the house has been designed to provide year-round comfort, with the accommodation conveniently arranged on two floors.

Situated by a very quiet side road with virtually no traffic, la Foye House enjoys wonderful views over gently rolling countryside, and is just minutes away from the nearby Forest of Aulnay. Wonderful for woodland walks and cycling. La Foye House offers very spacious and comfortable accommodation comprising a large kitchen/dining room with a separate, well-furnished lounge, plus two bedrooms and three bathrooms, one with bathtub.

Downstairs

kitchen/dining room: Bright, fully-fitted kitchen features a timber beamed ceiling and tiled floor. The practical layout of the kitchen includes plenty of worktop space, an electric oven and hob, cooker hood with extract system, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, kettle and toaster, plus dining table and six comfortable dining chairs. A full set of china and cutlery, with corkscrews and bottle-openers are provided as in fact is everything you will need. Completing the picture is the stone fireplace fitted with an efficient log burner for cosy evenings by the fire.

Lounge: Adjoining the kitchen/dining room, the spacious L-shaped lounge has comfortable armchairs, large sofabed and side tables. The living room has a tiled floor with rugs and benefits from full-length French windows. UK digital satellite TV and radio complete with DVD facilities.

Bathroom: The ground floor bathroom has a large bathtub, fitted wash hand basin, WC, and a new washing machine.

Rear doors open onto the secluded bijou patio garden an ideal setting for outdoor breakfasts and evening barbecues.

Upstairs

Wooden staircase (built by the local artisan next door) leads to the upper landing.

Bedroom 1: Furnished with double bed, bedside tables, table lamps, wardrobe and chest of drawers. This bedroom features a beautifully timbered ceiling and one wall is pointed natural Charentaise stone. En-suite bathroom with timber floor and equipped with a modern shower, wash hand basin and WC.

Bedroom 2: Features one wall with pointed Charentaise stone and is furnished with a single bed, bedside table, table lamps and garment hanging space. There are lovely views from both bedrooms.

Second upstairs bathroom: Fully tiled and equipped with shower, wash hand basin and WC. There is always plenty of hot water available.

With the option of electric central heating, la Foye House is a perfect place to stay at any time of the year and La Foye House is very cool during the summer months. An efficient portable air conditioning unit is available in case there's a scorcher.

Cotton bed linen, with duvets and pillows as well as bathroom towels are provided.

Outside
Garden furniture on the patio includes table with large parasol and chairs plus an easy-to-use gas barbecue.

Location
La Foye de Vinax is just over four hours from the port of St Malo, and about an hour's drive from La Rochelle and Poitiers. St Jean d'Angély is 25 minutes by car, and Cognac is just forty minutes away. Aulnay is approx 12 minutes and Néré is a 7 minute drive.

The region of Poitou-Charentes has more than twelve golf courses open throughout the year. The course at Cognac is particularly good.
The property is just over four hours from the port of St Malo, and about an hour from La Rochelle and Poitiers. Cognac is just forty minutes away by car.
The historic town of Aulnay with its attractive market square is twelve minutes drive, and Néré is just seven minutes away. Both local towns have restaurants, weekly markets, shops, supermarkets, banks and bakeries.
Described by one of our visitors as "a little piece of heaven", the hamlet of la Foye is a superbly tranquil setting, absolutely perfect for a relaxed country holiday and an excellent base for exploring the delights of the region.
A perfect choice if a multi-gite complex is not for you.
