The cottage at Monclaire is a spacious granite built cottage, surrounded by Breton countryside and wildlife. The house has a large, bright and airy conservatory, where dinner can be eaten or pre dinner drinks may be taken. The conservatory has wonderful, panoramic views of the countryside, woodlands and various wildlife, it also opens out directly onto a terrace with outdoor table, chairs and parasol.
From the conservatory area there are 2 double doors which open up into the kitchen area and the lounge area. The lounge has a three piece suite and TV, with satellite TV and a video/DVD player. There is also a radio/CD/tape player and a very large selection of videos and DVDs and books.
The kitchen opens out to a second terrace area with BBQ and lawned area. The kitchen is modern and well equipped with microwave, coffee machine, gas hob and oven, toaster, washing machine and good sized fridge/freezer.
The first floor has a landing area a modern bathroom with shower unit, toilet and basin. There are 2 bedrooms, a double and a twin both fully equipped. Both rooms have large windows overlooking the front terrace, gardens and meadows. The second floor is an open plan, mezzanine area fully equipped as a bedroom with views over to the south.
The closest amenities are 2kms away in the pretty village of Roz Sur Couesnon. The village is only a few minutes by car and has a bakery, butcher, hairdresser, bar and grocery shop. It can also be a very pleasant walk taking in views of the bay of Le Mont St Michel and the Mont itself. In the village there is also a garden area which has amazing views of the whole of the bay.
For some serious shopping there are 3 supermarkets in Pontorson, various butchers and bakeries and cake shops. You can also checkout the tourist office, post your post cards at La Post opposite the tourist office and relax in various bars and restaurants. The food available ranges from the very traditional to Sicilian, Italian, Kebabs and even a newly open McDonalds just outside of town.
This area has a vast array of tourist attractions, but it is most Famous for Le Mont St Michel which is only a 10 Minute drive from the house. We are surrounded by some of the best beaches in St malo and Cancale and the Victorian seaside town of Dinard. We also have some of the best examples of medieval architecture in the town of Dinan. We are surrounded by beautiful countryside and fantastic road access. Driving in France is a real pleasure!
