La Petite Pommeraie is light, airy and spacious and has just undergone further renovation to bring it up to a higher standard. It has a bedroom with pretty provincial furniture incl. a 5' double bed, a good sized living room with a cozy wood burning stove for your winter visits, 3' divan/daybed and a double sofa-bed. There is a separate fitted kitchen with washing machine and a bathroom with spa shower. Outside you have a large terrace with garden furniture and barbecue, screened from the rest of the land by a beautiful weeping willow which also offers privacy and ample shade when necessary although it does not shade the terrace. The rest of the large garden is at your disposal.

 

The property occupies a delightful rural location offering peace, quiet and space, but at the same time being only 10 mins. from all amenities and 40 mins. from several wonderful pine-fringed sandy beaches. Although no pool, there is the river Charente 200m down a grassy track with a small pebble beach for easy access for swimming, canoeing (we have one here you can use) or fishing (we have rods). The cottage is bright sunny and airy with high ceilings and exposed beams. There are mature trees and space offering shade and privacy where wanted. There is a very large garden and adjoining field which is wonderful for children, large or small, to amuse themselves, play, pitch tents etc. or for you to choose a shady (or sunny) nook to sit and contemplate. English-French speaker on site all year round.

Although we have no pool, avoiding spoiling the peaceful environment for other guests, the river, clean and delightful for swimming, is just down a short track with a stony beach for access. Jellies or surfing/boarding shoes recommended for getting in and out. We are trying out the Thursday changeover for the Ryanair guests but if this is a real problem for you, please contact me to discuss. I would not want to be inconveniencing the majority of my potential guests.

 

This lovely cottage is set in rural surroundings with the river Charente 300m down a small track. There is a little stony beach into the river from which you can swim, canoe or fish. Several excellent golf courses and horse-riding centres are within easy reach, the nearest being only 15 mins. away just outside the beautiful Roman town of Saintes, where you can find indoor and outdoor pools and plenty of other things to do.

 

The countryside is ideal for cycling as there is little traffic. There is an abundance of local chateaux and vineyards where they are happy for you to taste their wines, Pineaux and Cognacs. Restaurants and bars abound as do fascinating activities for all The beautiful sandy beaches are all within 40 mins with safe bathing for children. Our lovely rural retreat is an ideal spot to sit peacefully watching the wildlife, particularly the birds which can be seen on the marsh during migration There is much fun to be had watching the nesting storks go about their business from March to August
